Modal.solve(n_modes=6, sigma=None)

Solve the generalized eigenvalue problem.

Parameters:
  • n_modes (int, default=6) – Number of eigenmodes to compute.

  • sigma (float, optional) – Target eigenvalue \(\omega^2\). When supplied, shift-invert mode finds eigenvalues nearest sigma. Leaving it unset avoids factorizing a potentially singular free-free stiffness matrix.

Returns:

This problem, with eigenpairs available through eigenvalues, frequencies and modes.
