fedoo.Mesh.read

static Mesh.read(filename: str, name: str = '') → Mesh

Build a Mesh from a file.

The file type is inferred from the file name. Abaqus decks (.inp) are read with the meshlane library (or meshio if meshlane is not installed); this supports second-order (quadratic) elements, multiple element types (returned as a MultiMesh) and node/element sets (*NSET/*ELSET). Other formats are read with pyvista, which relies on the native VTK readers, or with meshlane/meshio when pyvista is unavailable. Use from_meshio() to choose meshlane/meshio explicitly for other supported formats. This imports mesh geometry, not materials, loads or analysis steps. Use fedoo.read_data() for result files.

Parameters:
  • filename (str) – Name of the file to read

  • name (str, optional) – name of the new created Mesh. If specitified, this Mesh will be added in the dict containing all the loaded Mesh (Mesh.get_all()). By default, the Mesh is not added to the list.
